2nd wind foil this year on Patrik 100 comp foil board. What a beast of a board, coming off Exocet RF91 which was OK. The Patrik is so much more comfortable if foiling or just slogging waiting for gusts as I was, sometimes today at Bradfield. Forecast was light up 15kts gusts and was spot on, sun, drizzle and mostly cloudy, about 12, some fin, but most wind foiling. Surprised to see no wingers, but I guess they need more wind. Rigged 9.3 North SL S type, nice 2/3 cam sail, but heavy if not planing.
Most were on 7+ down and it was quite windy at start so flew straight away after beating out. Most headed towards Wrabness with Cooky and Chips tagging each other race training I guess.
Trying to find the best sets for different winds, foiling with Starboard race foil setup is still alluding me. Didn't have time to setup the 115 fuse so went out on the 95cm and its def too small for the Patrik, and I definitely know that now, yet it was fine for the smaller RF91.
As I dont pump much, I only do it when I am certain to get a lift, but today a couple of knots more. I was lifting great in gusts so I presume 15knts ripping towards Wrabness and dead down wind back towards Mistley. Brilliant! Set up was 1100 FW / 300 stab 95 fuse and mast. Def want to try 1100 front /115+ fuse / 500 stab in 10kts to lift my big frame. It will be slow for sure, but dont really care, just want to fly more. I had to move the track back and inch be4 the end to get the lift on the 95 fuse, so that confirms 115+ fuse will be ideal for this big board, with the track slightly further forward. Just wish I had more time available on the water, as this tidal river only gives you a couple of hours be4 HT. Light weights were flying 75%. I probably could increase fly time with more pumping which I am loathe to do, as wasted energy, sometimes. The Patrik flies level, no yoyoing, once up with enough wind, absolutely brilliant, so I just had to stand still and sheet in when I wanted to go faster. Lost some control then at top end speeds. Today just made 18.05kts top but, never caught the gusts in the right sections today. 5 star day - all had a good time. Heart rates ere terrible last time, but back in the zone today 109/137
